The meta-physical ability of our intellect gave us the power to dominate the planet despite our unexceptional physical strength. It is how we developed the values of humanity.

Jungle law describes how existence produced evolution. It was here before humans were ever even thought of.

Capitalism is just financial jungle law, and as such is limited to materialism. It is not a product of the intellect. It is motivated solely by profit and it conflicts with the values of humanity.

As we ignore our values, our lives and surroundings suffer. Profit motivates some disappointing and bizarre reactions.

For instance, Turbo tax lobbied against the IRS doing our taxes because they’re motivated more by profit than purpose. They should have lobbied for a social safety net so they wouldn’t have to worry so much about losing their jobs.

A better example is that of the pharmaceutical industry. They like diseases that require continued medication. But to raise the price of insulin for those trying to manage diabetes is depraved. Their promotion of the opioid epidemic and then goosing the price of Naxolone, the overdose antidote, exposes the possibility that evil exists.

Civilization needs more than jungle law. It needs government.

Being without our values and empathy, material interests want to control government and/or give it a bad name such as it was besmirched by Reagan.

Gregarious species survive because it is a strength. Human values are a strength. Materialist individualism, the idea of “making it on your own”, is not so much a strength as it is a misreading of “survival of the fittest” and an attempt to start a new non-intellectual species.

It can’t just be a screaming lack of imagination that can allow the accumulation of billions of dollars, but also greed or control. Greed and jealousy can not be maintained without hatred being involved somehow. Billionaires should not have status.

What’s the point of having billions if you don’t feel better than those who aren’t wealthy? But with the billions comes the burden of meaninglessness compared to those who don’t need to be wealthy in order to live fulfilling lives. So you rig the government to not only helping you, but also from helping regular people. When others have to struggle, it seems less of an effort to feel like a proper billionaire.
