Artificial Functioning

We’re a bit full of ourselves. We get a little artificial memory going and as soon as we get it to learn something, we call it intelligent. Sure, it can remember more than we can, and can even do some things better than us. But it is no more conscious than a radio. It still doesn’t know what it is doing. Why should it even want to?
Shouldn’t we figure out what consciousness consists of before we stumble onto some level of moral abomination?
It’s not like our consciousness couldn’t use a little work. Humility would be a good start.
Right now we’re working on artificial stupidity. Let’s call it Artificial Functioning.
Intelligence is not necessarily ours to give away.
